Trends On SGX Nifty Indicate A Positive Opening For The Broader Index In India

Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a positive opening for the broader index in India, with a 31.5 points gain or 0.25 percent. The Nifty futures were trading around 12,389-level on the Singaporean Exchange.

Oil prices edged lower on Tuesday as receding Middle East tensions took some heat out of the market, with both Tehran and Washington desisting from any further escalation after this month’s clashes. 

Brent crude was down 8 cents, or 0.1%, at $64.12 per barrel by 0124 GMT. US West Texas Intermediate crude futures were down 4 cents, or 0.1%, at $58.04 a barrel.

The Sensex is down 126.08 points or 0.30% at 41,500.56, and the Nifty down 43.70 points or 0.36% at 12,238.50. About 417 shares have advanced, 435 shares declined, and 46 shares are unchanged.

Gail, ONGC, TCS, Infosys, HCL Tech are among major gainers on the Indices, while losers are Zee Ent, BPCL, Vedanta, Asian Paints, Tata Motors and SBI.

The Indian rupee slipped in the early trade on Friday. It opened lower by 12 paise at 71.49 per dollar versus previous close of 71.37.

Benchmark Indices Are Trading Higher In The Pre-Opening Session

Benchmark indices are trading higher in the pre-opening session with Nifty above 11,900.

The Sensex is up 105.87 points or 0.26% at 40270.90, and the Nifty up 42.40 points or 0.36% at 11933.00.

Sensex is up 144.26 points or 0.36 percent at 40309.29 in the opening trade while the Nifty is up 52.40 points or 0.44 percent at 11943.00. Tata Steel, Vedanta and IndusInd Bank are the top gainers while YES Bank, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are the top losers.

Shares Of HDFC Life Insurance Company Rallied 4.5 Percent

Shares of HDFC Life Insurance Company rallied 4.5 percent to hit a record high of Rs 637.70 intraday on October 30 after more than 5 percent equity exchanged hands through block deals.

The stock has been was one of the biggest gainers in the last one year, showing more than 70 percent return against 16 percent rally in the Nifty.

The private life insurer posted a 7.6 percent year-on-year increase in its September quarter net profit at Rs 308.7 crore, while its premium grew by 10 percent YoY to Rs 7,453.7 crore during the period.

Bharat Forge, one of world's largest forging companies, started off year on a weak note by reporting a massive 28 percent degrowth in June quarter profit, dragged by subdued demand in domestic market and inventory destocking in export oil & gas business.

Profit declined to Rs 171.92 crore in June quarter, from Rs 238.75 crore in same period last year. Revenue fell 3.55 percent year-on-year to Rs 23,278.56 crore in quarter ended June 2019.

Maruti Suzuki India's June Quarter Standalone Profit Fell Sharply By 27.3 Percent

Maruti Suzuki India's June quarter standalone profit fell sharply by 27.3 percent year-on-year to Rs 1,435.5 crore despite three-fold jump in other income, dragged by lower volumes.

Revenue during the quarter degrew by 12.2 percent to Rs 19,719.8 crore compared to year-ago, with 18 percent YoY fall in sales volumes. The company sold 4.01 lakh units in June quarter.

Other income increased to Rs 836.4 crore in Q1, against Rs 271.8 crore in year-ago period.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries shares rallied 4 percent intraday after company received a rare double upgrade from global research house Morgan Stanley.
